Marked to maker Talbot-Paris, actually an artillery short sword, but often used as a Champagne Sword at weddings, often given the slightly derisory nickname of “Coupe Chou” (cabbage chopper).

The 19 1/16 inch blade is in good condition and firm in the one piece brass hilt / guard and grip. The hilt and grip in good condition. The scabbard’s leather has some age / lost some surface but is still good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
For the collector or Champagne celebrations, this is a very good example at a very fair price of was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference ZZ14. Further / full sized additional images available upon request. Box 1645 70x15x14 (1.565).
