A scarce World War Two era (GVI) RASC (Royal Army Sevice Corps) officer’s sword. No maker’s / retailer’s details etched to the ricasso, so likely WW2.
The 33 5/8 supremely well etched blade is in exceptionally good condition and firm in the hilt. Three bar plated steel guard / hilt dull with age (light tarnish – would likely clean up) but good. Black fishskin grip a little faded in places, starting to show edge around backpiece but good; the twisted grip wire bindings good also, one turn main wire slightly wayward, another a lesser wire also slightly wayward. The leather field service sword knot is good for age but has broken around the stud. The leather field service scabbard aged but good, some scuffing / wear. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Really great blade in a good scarce George VI / WW2 RASC sword; bargain; was £? (too late, now sold)! Please quote item reference ZY96. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1965 107 x 15 x 16 (2.17).
