Yes, a few 1811m Bluchers were still being made in WW1; not many, but a few. With Kaiser Willhelm II’s mark with “16” (for 1916) to the spine, this is quite a scarce sword. No regimental markings, so it was a stores item, most likely “liberated” by a Tommy (British soldier) as it has been in the UK for quite a long time.
The 29 1/2 inch artillery length blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The steel hilt / guard also very good (with an attractive slight constant patina), as is the ribbed walnut grip. Steel field service scabbard is good; the saber sheathes and draws well.
An exceptional sword both to hold and see, just was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference ZY95. Further / full sized photos available upon request. Box 1963 98 x 17 x 16 (2.33).
