In good condition, an Edwardian / WW1 era Scottish Infantry Officer’s Basket Hilted Broadsword

Generic brass proof slug, plain blade, no maker’s name but 100% authentic; this Edwardian / World War One era Scottish Infantry Officer’s Basket Hilted Broadsword was likely a regimental purchase for either a senior NCO / Sergeant (very much most likely) or as a reserve officer’s sword. No royal cypher, but the scabbard is typically post-Victorian and clearly original to the sword. The basket hilt has period damage (broken bars) near the pommel commensurate with a harsh active service life, also reflected in the genreral aging / wear, particularly of the scabbard. The pommel unscrews to allow the basket hilt to be removed / replaced with a cross hilt (not present / included / available).
The 33 inch plain blade is in aged / worn but good condition and firm in the hilt. The steel hilt with some broken bars under the pommel is nonetheless good. The fishskin grip is in very good condition, as are the associated twisted grip wire bindings. The scarlet hilt / guard insert is aged / faded / worn and has lost its blue edging. The leather field service scabbard has significant wear / scuffing but is still fairly good and sound. The sword sheathes and draws well.
