With sun and moon talismans etched to blade and the figure of eight guard modified (reduced one side) for wearing not stowing / racking (to prevent the guard sticking into the officer’s side and wearing his tunic), this is an officer’s cutlass, not a ratings, from the early 1800s around the time of the Battle of Trafalgar.
The 29 1/2 inch blade with moon and sun etched talismans is in aged but sound condition; the tip has some impact damage and there are several nicks along the cutting edge. Blade firm in hilt. The modified / reduced one side guard is good. The barrel iron grip aged but good. Scabbard absent.
