Made in England by Reeves, a British 1853 pattern cavalry trooper’s sword with Italian cavalry regiment and state markings. Note: Reeves to the spine, British (Reeves) crown proof mark to the obverse nothing to the forte / ricasso, Italian cavalry regiment marking to the inside of the guard / hilt, Italian state / army “ZG” to the scabbard’s drag; if you are in any doubt, the markings from an all Italian 1860m’s inside hilt included in the photos for comparison.
The 35 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The iconic 3 bar steel guard is in very good condition, a little light even speckling. The composite grip with wear / age, but not too much. The heavy steel scabbard also equally good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
