A super rare 1807 Infantry Pattern Russian Imperial Leib Guard’s Tecak Hanger Sword and Special Scabbard; the scabbard is the key. Russian infantry 1807p’s are rare enough, but this one has the special ranks scabbard associated with the Tzar life (leib) guards. Yes it has some period damage to the hilt commensurate with action (quillon gone, upper grip break with pommel), but if it did not, it would retail for double or more what we are asking. In all probability, the damage is the reason why this tecak survived to this day, as a decommisioned sword; note also the period (no burr, patina runs into them) nicks to the cuttng edge of the blade.
The 25 1/2 inch blade with Tzar Nicolas II’s royal monogram / cypher has age / wear / light pitting / period nicks but is still good, plus firm in the hilt. The brass hilt / guard with some period damage is nonetheless good. The special brass and leather scabbard has dents / age / scrapes but is very good for its age. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A spectacular and very rare Russian 1807P in good condition (despite the hilt damage) for a spectacularly low price, just £2000. Please quote item reference ZW47. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 2126 88 x 13 x 13 (1.715).
