No maker’s / retailer’s details plus a typically earlier GV (George V) royal cypher style, so almost certainly circa 1917 / 1918 during the height of World War One when such things gave precedence to getting the swords to the officers as quickly as possible. This example has a leather field service scabbard where the ball chape forms part of the leather interior.

The well etched 32 1/2 inch blade is in very good condition with very little wear, etc. and is firm in the hilt. The plated steel hilt has a steady tarnish which would likely clean off and shine bright with careful use of a good metal polish (removing the scarlet insert first). The fishskin grip and associated twisted grip wire bindings are both good, albeit with some sge / wear. The hilt insert is good for its age but its royal blue edging is mostly gone. The scarlet tassle is good but is staring to lose strands. The leather field service scabbard is good but aged / worn with scuffs. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Very good example at the very reasonable price of £900. Please quote item reference ZW03. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 2082 108 x 17 x 17 (2.41).
