Engraved / inscribed to “H B Blackstone, R.N.” to the folding guard; this could likely be quite well overscored / engraved / over / obscured if desired. Surgeon Captain H. B. Blackstone was a highly decorated medical officer who served in the British Royal Navy Medical Services for several decades during the late 20th century.
There is no maker’s or retailer’s name to the forte / ricasso, but the sword is supremely well grey / gray etched. Circa 1970.
The 31 inch well etched blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The gilt brass hilt is in very good condition; the folding guard section works well and locates onto the scabbard’s retaining pin. The faux fishskin grip has a few small / tiny grubby spots (likely to easily clean off) but is very good; the associated twisted grip wire bindings are also good. Sword knot a little aged but still good. The leather with brass fittings scabbard is very good for its age. The sword sheathes and draws well.
