No maker’s or retailer’s name visible. This Napoleonic Wars era British Heavy Cavalry Officer’s Sword is aged but, miraculously, unlike most, its twisted grip wire grip is good / present (most have only their wood bases remaining). The special pommel indicates this sword was owned by an officer if the Royal Horse Guard (Household Cavalry).
The 35 1/8 inch blade has a steady patina throughout and some nicks but is in sound condition, plus firm in the hilt. The hilt with boat shell guard is in good condition but has lost its small langet; the silver metal twisted wire grip is good. Scabbard absent.
