Marked “JJ Runkel Solingen” to the blade spine; Runkel was believed to supply the finest and best 1796P blades and swords (he often supplied blades to British sword cutlers for them to turn into swords).
No scabbard: If there was, this sword would easily sell for over double our price (so, just find a scabbard; they do turn up from time to time).
The 32 inch blade is well etched (including Georgian royal cypher) with useful amounts of blue and gilt remaining, is in good condition for its age and firm in the hilt. The stirrup guard / hilt is aged but good. The fishskin grip is good for age. The twisted grip wire bindings are a little wayward in places and a lesser strand may have gone (unsure if there was another lesser strand or not).
A really nice example and at a really low price, was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference Z96. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1635-105x15x14 (1.387).
