Etched at the ricasso to “W. Anderson & Sons. Ltd 14 George St. Edinburgh”, this George V (WW1 era) cross hilt infanty broadsword has both scabbards; dress plated steel and field service leather. Sharpened, so almost certainly WW1 and intended to be carried on active service.

The 33 inch period sharpened blade is well etched, in good condition and firm in the hilt. The cross guard hilt with some rust spots is good nonetheless. The fishskin grip and associated twisted grip wire bindings are both in good condition. Leather field service scabbard with age and wear is good. Plated steel dress scabbard has multiple small rust patches but is good. The sword sheathes and draws well (both scabbards).
Lovely example with both scabbard for just was £? (too late, now sold); a bargain of an evocative investment for sure. Please quote item reference Z85. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1617 golf (2.042).
