No visible maker’s mark, but a worn British acceptance / view mark, which later confirms this 1800’s model cutlass saw service with the Royal Navy and would have been in service in 1805, during Nelson’s Battle of Trafalgar. The cutting edge has a few period nicks (no burr, patina into nicks), which more than indicates this cutlass saw action.
The 28 5/8 inch blade is in aged but good condition, a steady patina throughout, some period nicks to the cutting edge, firm in the hilt. The figure of eight guard / hilt with some distortion / wear and age / light rust spots / patina, but is good. The steel grip with age but good.
Well above average condition and / but with definite signs of use! They do not come much better, especially at only was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference Y76. Further / full sized images available upon request. Tube 1472-106×16 (2.24).
