Tenpo era (1830-1844) blade by Minamoto Masasuke, a maker retained by the local warlord. Mother of pearl inlaid saya (scabbard). The blade has been buffed but there is still a clear hamon and hada (grain).
The 18 7/8 inch nagasa (cutting edge section) blade is in good condition, as is the furniture (fittings); all firm.
