Charles Bevan Brooke (b1909, d2000) had a long RN career (see photo) including serving aboard HMS Victory and HMS Nelson.
The 31 1/4 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard good with much gilt remaining. Original sword knot with some age and fraying is sound. The fishskin grip in good condition, are the twisted grip wire bindings. Leather and brass fittings scabbard with a little age but good. The folding guard section of the hilt / guard works well and locates properly onto the pin of the top scabbard locket. The sword sheathes and draws well.
