Etched “H. THEO. BOND 9TH ROYAL WEST KENT”, Horace Theodore Bond served in the Machine Gun Corps during World War One, survived and was a solicitor between the wars, became a Flying Officer in World War Two, survived and resumed life as a solicitor afterwards.



The 32 1/2 inch grey etched blade is in very good condition with minimal age / wear, some mostly towards the point. Blade firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard good, some light inert surface rust around the hilt’s Georg V cypher. Fishskin grip and twisted grip wire bindings with some age / wear, but good. Original leather sword knot with some age, wear and surface cracking but sound. Field service leather scabbard with some wear, especially around the chape which is normal, otherwise good. The sword sheathes and draws a little loosely but well.
