A WW1 British 1905P RCR / CEF Infantry Sergeant’s Wilkinson Sword & Scabbard
Very scarce! A George V 1905 pattern British Infantry Staff Sergeant’s Solid Hilt Wilkinson Sword. Made rare! Marked to a prestigious active WW1 regiment and battalion; the Royal Canadian Regiment and Canadian Expeditionary Force. This sword was in the thick of it during World War One.
The sharpened 32 3/4 inch blade is in very good condition and dated “7 14” (July 1914). Blade firm in hilt (of course). The hilt / guard with some light rust patches and the remains of browning to the inside of the bowl guard, marked “R C R” for Royal Canadian Regiment. The riveted fishskin grip in aged / worn condition but good. The steel scabbard in good condition but one of the wooden inner lining slats is loose, marked “76TH” for the 76th Battalion (Canadian Expeditionary Force). The sword sheathes and draws well (caveat: when sheathed correct side of loose inner slat).
As good as it gets for issued Wilkinson Sword solid hilts, really. A great piece of history and investment for £1350. Please quote item reference X38. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1279-122x18x16 (2.382).
