What an impressive imposing sword form when Britannia really did rule the waves. The etching feint, but appears to start “Bat”; our best guess is Batten, sword cutler, of Devonport.
The 31 1/4 inch blade is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt good, the folding guard section a little stiff but working as it should. The white fishskin grip a little grubby but good. The twisted grip wire bindings good but a little loose / astray in places.
This impressive sword is well above average. If it had a scabbard, it would sell for over twice the price; just was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference X24. Further / full sized images upon request. Box 1268-101x18x17 (1.724).
