Victorian Scottish Argyll & Sutherland
Cross Hilt Broadsword, Sold |
In very good condition, a Victorian Scottish Argyll & Sutherland
Highlanders Named Officer's Cross Hilt Broadsword.

The ricasso has been period engraved "Col E Wilson 3bt A &
S H" for the 3rd battalion of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
There is no maker's or retailer's name to the ricasso, but this
is a very high quality sword, so the original owner probably declined
this.

The 32 1/4 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the
hilt. The hilt good but with age. The fishskin grip in very good
condition save for a tiny patch loss. Twisted grip wire also good.
The field service leather scabbard is good but aged and has lost
its chape. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A very nice, well above average example. A snip at just £?
(too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number W69 (1193).
Further / full sized pictures available upon request.
