Sold Item Notice

With stylized Victorian crown, Campbell Clan Boars Head with Ne Obliviscaris (Forget Not) and original owner's initials "H I H" to the blade. Plus Pillin serial number 99068, this sword was made circa 1864 and therefore the original officer should be able to be identified by careful study of Hart's Army Lists for that period and then seeing if anyone in a highland regiment with those initials, whether they were members of the Campbell Clan.

The 32 3/4 inch blade is in worn but good condition, with patina patches, firm in the hilt. The hilt also with age, perhaps more so, but good. The original hilt liner aged, worn and with some holes. The fishskin grip is worn and faded in places but still good, the associated grip wire bindings also good but a little wayward here and there. The steel scabbard with patina / rust patches and some small dings is sound. The sword sheathes and draws well.

Great scarce sword with firm research potential. Yours for £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number W67. Further / full sized pictures available upon request.
