Etched to army tailors and sword cutler “McBride & Sons, 7 Charles Street, St James’s London”, at that address from 1857 to 1890.
The 35 7/8 inch blade, serial number 99223 to the spine, is in good condition but has rough (minor / very small nicks) edges so has seen some kind of “action”. Blade firm in the hilt. The hilt is good with a steady patina. The fishskin grip in good condition. The twisted grip wire bindings have lost a couple of minor strands; the remains do project a tiny amount out from the back piece. The field service steel scabbard has patina but is good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A quality sword in above average condition. Nicely priced: was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number W63. Further / full sized pictures available upon request. Box 1203-121x19x17 (2.399).
