Etched to “G H Furness, A.S.C.” and retailer (tailors) “Standen & Co 16 Waterloo Place London SW “. Guy Haswell Furness was a Lieutenant in the Army Service Corps from 1915 to 1919. This ASC officer’s sword is unusual in that is has an earlier King Edward VII hilt with a King George V blade; maybe the hilt was a family item.

The unusually long 35 3/4 inch blade (may indicate Furness was a very tall man or was a mounted officer) is well etched and in good condition except for some rust in the area of the point. Blade firm in hilt. The hilt with patina / tarnish and a little light rust in one area is in good shape. Fishskin grip is good but has lost its twisted grip wire bindings. There is no scabbard.
A great research piece. was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number W61. Further / full sized pictures available upon request. Box 1223-128x17x17 (2.171).
