Serial number to the blade is 34073, so this sword saw a lot of WW2. The saya / scabbard’s serial number is 34182 which, while not matching, is also early and implies a period marriage while in service rather than a post war spares marriage.
The 26 1/4 inch (cutting edge) blade is in good condition though some patina and light pitting, but not much. Blade firm in hilt. The fittings are all in good order and the grip has above average amounts of original copper paint remaining. The saya / scabbard is good and with much war time paint. The sword sheathes and draws well, the locking pin mechanism works well.
Early war swords are more desirable for obvious reasons; this one has lasted well. Well worth t was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number W55. Further / full sized pictures available upon request. Package 1183-110x16x12 (2.435).
