Napoleonic Dutch Light Cavalry Trooper's
Sword M1813-2, sold
In good condition, a scarce Napoleonic / Waterloo Dutch Light
Cavalry Trooper's Sword M1813 type 2.
With various markings (the Dutch were very minimalist with markings),
this sword is far from light and quite likely was at Waterloo when
the Dutch fought very well alongside the British.
The 34 1/8 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the
hilt; it has been decommissioned (blunted). The wide flared guard
/ hilt is very good, as is the leather grip, just a little wear
/ age. The heavy steel scabbard in very good shape. The sword sheathes
and draws well.
A very nice, well above average example of a scarce Allied Napoleonic
sword. Worth more than £? (too late, now sold), but that is
our price. Please quote item reference number W48 (1174). Further
/ full sized pictures available upon request.
