Outwardly, for most this would be parade ground condition. One caveat: someone (a previous owner) has virtually removed all the blade’s etching to the point of appearing, at first glance, to be a plain bladed sword. The etching is mostly still there, but very, very feint.

The 31 1/4 inch dress weight slender blade is virtually devoid of its once etching but in good condition, some patina patches towards the point, some polished out small rust spots around the ricasso. Blade firm in hilt. The hilt retains virtually all original gilt. The white fishskin grip and associated twisted grip wire bindings are very good. The leather and brass fittings scabbard is good. The folding guard section of the hilt works well and locates as it should on the scabbard locking pin. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A stunning sword when sheathed! A mystery when not! Still, a great buy for was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number W30. Further / full sized pictures available upon request. Box 1155-101x19x16 (1.699).
