With RFA to the cartouche’s crowned fouled anchor, this is a rare sword for an officer of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. Etched at the ricasso to Wilkinson Sword but there is no serial number to verify the maker.
The 31 1/4 grey etched blade is in good condition, some wear, some packing grease one side (sorry), firm in the hilt. The hilt good. The fishskin grip has wear and is losing some of its white, plus there is a “moth hole” one on side (can be filled). Twisted grip wire is good. The leather and brass fittings scabbard is good but with a crease one side towards the chape (the scabbard is rigid and holds horizontally). The sword sheathes and draws well. The folding section of the guards works well and locates onto the scabbard as it should.
A rare sword (actually the first we have ever seen). So probably well under priced at £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number W29 (1146). Further / full sized pictures available upon request.
