Victorian British 15th Lancashire Artillery
Officer's Sword, for sale
In good condition, a Victorian British 15th Lancashire Artillery
Volunteers Named Officer's Sword.
Made by quality maker Hobson & Sons, etched to the 15th Lancashire
Artillery Volunteers and the original officer owner, A W Croft.
The 31 3/4 inch blade's etching is a little dull / feint, most
likely from being sheaved and drawn; but etching still clear. Blade
firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard in good shape but with patina
and some inert light pitting, though not much at all. The fishskin
grip is good but with wear to some edges where it meets the back
piece. The silver metal twisted grip wire bindings are good. The
steel field service scabbard is good but some discolouration etc.
The sword sheathes and draws well.
