WW1 era British Royal Artillery Officer's
Sword, sold |
In aged condition, a WW1 era British Royal Artillery Officer's
Sword, probably 1917/18.

Most likely mid to late WW1 (1917/1918) as no retailer (or maker)
etched to the ricasso, when turnaround was important.

The etching on the 34" blade is still very clear but there
is a band of darker patina half way down plus general wear and patina
spots elsewhere. Blade firm in hilt. The hilt with age / discoloration
and areas of inert rust / patina but sound. The fishskin grip in
good condition overall, as are the twisted grip wire bindings. The
leather scabbard with age, losses and damage. The sword sheathes
and draws well.
An honest example, just £? (too late, now sold). Please quote
item reference number W17. Further / full sized pictures available
upon request.
