British Mid-Victorian Police Officer's Sword,
In good condition, a British Mid-Victorian / Circa 1870 Constabulary
/ Police Officer's Sword.
No maker's mark or hint as to the police force that once owned
this. But it has been worn by an officer as it comes with its original
belt loop with clear aged wear.
The 23 3/8 inch blade is in overall very good condition but with
a few rust patches. Blade firm in the grip / hilt. The brass hilt
in good condition. Grey fishskin grip is good but with some areas
of wear and a couple of tiny wear / moth holes. The locking pin
mechanism has lost its round thumb disc but does move. The leather
and brass scabbard is good but does not sheath fully because of
the locking pin mechanism not being depressed; otherwise the sword
sheathes and draws well.
Maybe a job for an amateur restorer? In any even, a bargain at
just £300. Please quote item reference number W12. Further
