Victorian British Infantry Officer's Sword

In good condition (blade exceptionally good), a Victorian British
Infantry Officer's Sword by Hawkes with Owner / Officer's Initials.
The leather carry case bears the initials of the original owner
/ officer, "A J M L-P", so if you have a lot of time on
your hands and late 19C copies of the Army List, you probably would
be able to identify the officer. The blade is in stunning condition,
so the hilt and scabbard could be restored / re-plated to make this
an A+ example.
The dress weight / slender 32 3/8 inch blade is in very good condition
with minimal wear and just the odd spot of patina. Blade firm in
the hilt. The hilt / guard sound but has suffered the test of time
and humidity having lost a lot of its plating to patina. The grip
is in very good condition, as are the twisted grip wire bindings.
The steel scabbard is good but has lost most of its plating to patina.
The leather carry case is good but aged. The sword sheathes and
