The leather carry case bears the initials of the original owner / officer, "A J M L-P", so if you have a lot of time on your hands and late 19C copies of the Army List, you probably would be able to identify the officer. The blade is in stunning condition, so the hilt and scabbard could be restored / re-plated to make this an A+ example.

The dress weight / slender 32 3/8 inch blade is in very good condition with minimal wear and just the odd spot of patina. Blade firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard sound but has suffered the test of time and humidity having lost a lot of its plating to patina. The grip is in very good condition, as are the twisted grip wire bindings. The steel scabbard is good but has lost most of its plating to patina. The leather carry case is good but aged. The sword sheathes and draws well.

Lovely sword by quality maker and plenty of research potential. Just £500. Please quote item reference number V92. Further / full sized pictures available upon request. Box 1097-121x19x17 (2.537).
