Dutch Klewang Model 1898 (Sabre Marechaussee), sold

In good aged condition, a scarce Dutch Klewang Model 1898 (Sabre Marechaussee), a true / earliest O.I. M.1898

A lot of sellers claim the Dutch Klewang they are selling is an 1898 model, but very few are; this one is. Tang rivet, Lunescheloss od Solingen made, black ribbed wooden grip; a true, original m.1898. Plus this one is unit marked.

The 24 1/2 inch blade is in good order with old nicks to the cutting edge. Blade firm in hilt. Steel hilt with age but in good order. The ribbed black wooden grip is good, worn and aged. The leather scabbard, unit marked, is sound, some surface leather losses. The sword sheathes and draws well.
