19/20C Fine Macassar / Makassar Ebony Bugis
Keris, sold. |
In very good condition, superb and rare 19/20C Macassar / Makassar
Ebony Bugis Keris.

Macassar / Makassar Ebony is striped, like a tiger, and comes from
the Makassar (AKA Ujung Padang) area of Sulawesi, Indonesia. The
wood is rare and valuable enough, but especially in this form, a
true Makassar Bugis Keris with the typical vertical ridge line cut
into both sides of the hilt.
The 13 3/8 inch blade is in very good condition with a good pamor
and firm in the hilt. The hilt cup is well above average. The garuda
hilt exceptional, matching the equally exceptional sheath, also
of Macassar / Makassar Ebony with a silver band and black ebony
chape. The keris sheathes and draws well and fits exactly into the
sheath.
This is such a good and desirable keris. Yours for only £?
(too late, now sold). Please quote item reference V29. Full sized
photos available upon request.
