WW2 British RN Wireless Telegraphist Named
Officers Sword, Sold
In very good condition, a George VI / WW2 British RN / RNVR Wireless
Telegraphist Named Officers Sword.
OK, so it is a straight forward Royal Navy officer's sword which
just happened to be owned and worn by a RNVR Wireless Telegraphist
Lieutenant named "G Goulding". During WW2 Wt. G Goulding
would have served at the Admiralty or a major naval establishment
in the UK or abroad. Plenty of research potential!
The 31 3/16 inch blade is in very good condition except for a couple
of rust / patina spots on the spine and towards the point; etching
still very clear and blade firm in the hilt. The hilt in very good
condition, useful gilt remaining. The grip nd grip wire are good,
just a little grubby / worn. Original sword knot in good condition.
The leather and gilt brass fittings scabbard good, a little age.
The all weather case with age but sound. The folding guard section
works well and locates as it should on the scabbard locking pin.
The sword sheathes and draws well.
