Sales enquiries

Almost certainly a war trophy bought back by a British soldier from the Second Anglo-Afghan War. The guard is loose due to a clearly period break between the stirrup guard and pommel, a sign the sword was taken as a result of a battle. The blade with Afghan maker's / armourer's mark.

The 31 7/8 inch curved blade, clearly well hand forged is in good condition but with several aged / period nicks to the cutting edge. The hilt is loose as stated, but sound. The guard and engraved grip in good condition.

A spectacular and rare sword; a great find, £750. Please quote reference U88. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 0928-101x19x16 (1.821).
