1860-1888 Model Spanish Cavalry Trooper's
Sword, Toledo 1871, sold |
In good condition, a 1860 Model Spanish Cavalry Trooper's Sword
with 1888 revised scabbard.

The sabre is an 1860 model made in Toledo in 1871, with the revised
1888 model scabbard (with dual ring single suspension band), so
the sword saw a long service period. The blade was period sharpened,
so this sword may well have seen action in the Spanish Third Carlist
War, or even the "Little War" in Cuba.

The 33 3/4 inch blade has some light pitting towards the point
but overall is in good condition and is firm in the hilt. The hilt
with Spanish royal coat of arms, etc. in a little worn but still
good. The fishskin grip has wear but is sound. Some of the grip
wire is gone. The scabbard generally good but with some age / dings.
The sword sheathes and draws well, if a little loosely.
Nice looking sword in good condition; £? (too late, now sold).
