Victorian 1879 Pattern British Royal Navy
Midshipman's Dirk, Sold |
In good condition, a scarce Victorian 1879 Pattern British Royal
Navy Midshipman's Dirk.

An 1879 pattern with the scarce button clamp (later dirks have
a spring catch along the side of the scabbard to fit an opening
in the quillon of the cross guard).

The 17 7/8 inch blade is in aged but good condition and firm in
the hilt. The hilt equally in good order, the grip especially above
average. The scabbard leather is aged but sound, the fittings in
good order. The dirk sheathes and draws well, the locking pin mechanism
works well.
For sure, an above average example of this scarce RN dirk. A great
opportunity for only £? (too late, now sold). Please quote
item reference U67 (0901). Further / full sized images available
upon request.
