This sergeant's version of the British infantry officer's sword has the date 8 (August) 01 (1901) to the blade, so originally it had an Edward VII hilt which was then replaced with a George V hilt when he came to the thrown. Sergeant's swords are much rarer then officer's.

The 32 1/4 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The steel guard d/ hilt with some age / rust spotting / streaking. The grip is in good condition, as are the twisted grip wire bindings. The black leather scabbard (indicating a rifle sergeant) is aged but sound. The sword sheathes and draws well.

A scarce sergeant's sword for just £425 is a bargain. Please quote item reference U63. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 0913-121x17x17 (2.043).
