This is a scarce 19th Century Sumatran Piso Podang; these were also used / owned by some South Borneo Dyaks.

The 23 1/2 inch blade is overall very good for age, the very tip with slight damage, and firm in the hilt. The bronze hilt is well made and in good condition except for the pommel, which upper most part is damaged (we suspect it had an insert rather than the normal dome top). Only half a scabbard with later hanging leather strap. The sword sheathes and draws well.
These are scarce swords; just do a Google search for Sumatran piso padang / sword. OK, this one has pommel damage, but a replacement inset should easily be fashioned / found (maybe a round stone or citrine or coin). A great deal, just was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference R14. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 0482-82x11x11 (1.194).
