Etched to “Marshall & Co, St James’s Street, London” with serial number 100875 to the spine.
The 32 1/2 inch blade is in overall good condition and firm in the hilt. The steel hilt in very good order but with scuffing / patina / light rusting to the edge areas, especially around the back piece. The fishskin grip is good but the edges have wear / some loss. The twisted grip wire bindings are good. The leather field service scabbard is worn but sound. The sword sheathes and draws well.
No volunteer markings, so almost certainly a regular rifle regiment officer’s. A very nice sword for the price, just was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference Q46. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 0364-1.18 (2.063).
