VGC = Very Good Condition. No maker’s or retailer’s details to the ricasso / forte, so likely an end of war sword, circa 1917.
Interesting / rare 3 disc finales to cross hilt (normally 2 discs and a ball). The pommel shows the sword was for the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. The pommel is actually formed by a nut for the screw tang blade ending. This so the crosshilt could be replaced with a basket hilt (not included). Rare blackened steel field service scabbard (most are leather).
The finely / well etched 32 3/4 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt (caveat: the pommel can be loosened or over tightened; be careful). The cross hilt and pommel in good condition. The black fishskin grip with single wire binding are good. The blackened steel scabbard will ball chape is in good condition. The sword sheathes and draws well.
