Scarce? Just Google it (18C Scottish Infantry Officer’s Dirk). The two examples of the same pattern we found sold for over double what we are asking for ours (and ours has a scabbard, though, admittedly, the leather of our sheath has been replaced in the past).
Scottish 18th Century Dirk with curved wooded hilt in the form of Celtic knots with studs and brass fittings / inserts.

The cleaned bright 14 inch steel blade with age, wear and pitting is nonetheless in quite good condition and firm in the hilt (the hilt is secured to the blade’s screw threaded tang with a Celtic cross nut and can therefore be loosened or tightened at your peril). The wooden hilt with Celtic knots plus studs is aged and worn but sound / good. The brass and (later replacement) leather scabbard is quite good for its age, some leather shrinkage. The dirk sheathes and draws quite well, if a little tightly due to the leather having age shrunk. The blade’s point has a tiny old rounding.
Our price for this scarce 18th Century Scottish dirk is half what it probably should be at only was £? (too late, now sold), so don’t take too long in making this collecter’s dream yours, else it will be gone! Please quote item reference AI61. Further / full sized images available upon request.
