Major General Michael Willoughby (1803-1871). Photo of portrait shows him wearing military uniform with Order of the Bath and Scinde medals, with this very sword in hand and wearing the sash. Major GeneralWilloughby has an impressive obelisk shaped memorial in Kensal Green Cemetery which lists his Military career in India at some length recording his command of field Artillery on several occasions in the Manea Kanta in 1834, at the storming of the fortress of Codra and other locations, that he was present at the capture of Aden and at Hyderabad. He was the Father of Edward Cotgrave Parr Willoughby whose heroic exploits are well documented.
