A bicorn hat with rosette to one side and bullion tassels, internal label lacking. In travelling case marked for Fraser and Davis 78 & 79 High St. Portsmouth. With a sliding ruler in box by W.H. Harling Ltd.
Plus a collection of ephemera, photograph album and service record for Vivian Potts Gardner 1905-1977. Joining the Navy in 1920 (as a gunner) and served aboard many vessels including HMS Hermes, HMS Berwick. He ended the war with the rank of Temporary Ship’s Commamder. The photograph album containing some 73 images of various ships in Hong Kong, etc.
The 31 inch single edged, pointed blade with fuller, decorated with a Royal coat of arms, scrolling foliage and rope decoration. With a broad guard with folding inner edge, wire bound handle and lion’s head pommel. With sword knot and leather and brass mounted scabbard with twin ring suspension. 96 cm overall. Sword with light rust to blade, some wear to scabbard. Bicorn hat worn. Papers with age (smoke staining, scuffing and wear).
