Made by Osborn & Gunby in Birmingham, England, likely just after the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Be warned: many maliciously fake aged reproductions abound; this is guaranteed authentic.
The 28 5/8 inch blade bears the early 1800’s GR Crown acceptance mark and a pleasing steady age patina. Blade firm in the hilt. The Figure of Eight guard is aged with a dark patina and is very good for its age. The “pineapple” chequered grip also with age and wear but good. All firm. Scabbard absent (many did not even have scabbards if they were stowed in weapon racks en board vessels).
