Inscribed on the blade’s spine to state arms maker Klingenthal in February 1815 (the part where it said “Royal” erased upon Napoleon’s return from his first exile), made just before the Battle of Waterloo. The anchor mark to the hilt showing this to be a marine infantry (“Troupes de Marine” / Marines) sword.

The 22 3/4 inch blade has been well / over cleaned perhaps but is in good condition and firm in the hilt / grip. The one piece brass grip, hilt and guard are all in good order. The original black leather with brass mounts scabbard has some age / wear but is good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Very good condition example of a scarce Napoleonic wars French marine’s sword. Come on, a bargain at only was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AH65. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1829 80x14x14 (1.610).
