Model An XII (1803), this sword was around for the Battle of Trafalgar and, who knows, was perhaps present during Lord Horatio Nelson’s finest and last hour.
The now plain / patinated 31 inch blade has some wear, possibly very slight nicks, to the cutting edge, a little loose in the hilt (not much). The superb hilt has most of its gilt remaining. The guard with a large anchor to the back, Neptune holding his trident to one side of the cross guard’s forte with an anchor to the obverse, and a Napoleonic era Greek-Roman style French senior officer’s plumed helmet to the pommel. The golden grip wire is a little wayward in places but seemingly all there.
