Made in the Atelier de Précision workshops in Paris, circa 1814, this superb sword no doubt is a British battle / war trophy from Waterloo. The blade regiment converted from hatchet to spear point during the 100 Days War just before the Battle of Waterloo itself under general orders to increase the piercing ability of the awesome blade. Much rarer than Klingenthal made versions.
“AP” (Atelier de précision) An XIII Cuirassier swords / sabres are generally associated with the 2nd Cuirassier Regiment
The almighty 37 3/4 inch twin fullered blade marked “AP” and with a republican lictor symbol is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The heavy brass guard / hilt has a great aged / speckled golden appearance and is in good condition. The original leather grip is in good but aged condition, and has lost its twisted grip wire bindings. The good condition original heavy steel scabbard has been cleaned fairly bright. The sword sheathes and draws well.
