Robert Mole & Sons of Birmingham were / are considered to be the top filed service sword maker in England at that time. Serial number M2696. Wyatt’s Registered Scabbard.
The 32 1/2 inch blade is very well quality etched, in good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard with age and surface rust patches is nonetheless good / sound. The fishskin grip with age and wear is still good; the silver metal twisted wire grip bindings have lost most of the lesser strands but the main strand is good. Leather sword knot aged but good, one strap broken through. The scabbard with age is still sound to good but the leather is cracking in places and the fittings are lightly speckle oxidized. The sword sheathes and draws well.
