This sword survived World War One service and was obviously refurbished by the regiment after the war ended. With the RHG badge to the guard and marked “RHG D207 RR75” and dated “10” “13” (October 1913) to the blade, this sword was in France during the war and then came back to serve as a regimental sword. The 1908 pattern, which this is, was used by the Household Cavalry when on active service, rather than the standard Household Cavalry pattern sword used for official royal ceremonies.

The 35 inch period plated blade has rust bubbles etc towards the point but overall is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The guard / hilt with some light pitting is overall good. The composite grip a little aged and worn but good. The scabbard is missing its suspension rings, possibly as a modification to allow it to fit a full length leather scabbard outer with frog. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Won’t find many of these 1908P’s with the RHG badge to the front; best snap this one up quick. Especially at only (was) £1100, now £880 . Please quote item reference AG84. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1564 115x28x27 (4.419).
