Wilkinson made the vast majority of Gieve’s marked swords, so it is probable this is a Wilkinson Sword, and the quality shows.

The 31 inch blade is in very good condition, just a couple of small patina patches around the edges and minimal wear, plus firm in the hilt. The hilt in very good condition with much / most / perhaps all gilt remaining. The faux fishskin grip in very good condition, as are the associated twisted grip wire bindings (just a couple of lesser strand turns very slightly astray). Original sword knot is good if a little worn / aged. The scabbard in very good condition; the center fitting / suspension mount is loose (can simply be glued, as it was originally). The sword sheathes and draws well. The folding guard section is blank (no previous officer’s name) and locates well onto the locking / retaining pin of the scabbard.
Excellent example. Great price. was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AG79. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1520-117x15x14 (1.735).
